To allow the Select Board to appropriate monies from the undesignated fund balance to reduce the amount of property taxes to be collected.
At their October 14, 2025, meeting, the Select Board set a mil rate of $9.81 based on numbers provided to the Assessor by KRT Appraisal. When preparing the tax bills for mailing, it was discovered that two of the numbers provided were incorrect, and the mil rate was too low to fully fund the 2025 Budget voted on at Town Meeting. In order to collect the funds needed to fully fund the 2025 Budget, the Select Board voted at their November 4, 2025, meeting to liquidate a $600,000 investment account and, if approved at Special Town Meeting, use $700,000 from the undesignated fund balance to lower the mil rate from $11.70 to $10.50. Failure to allow the use of the undesignated funds will result in a mil rate set at $11.70.
