Kenneth Charles graduated from Waterville Senior High School in 1988.  After serving in the US Army from 1988-1991, he returned home to attend the University of Maine at Farmington, graduating in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Community Health Education. 

Ken started his law enforcement career in 2002 with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department as Patrol Deputy.  He was promoted to Patrol Corporal in 2008 and Detective in 2013.  He received extensive training and experience in crimes against the person, narcotics investigations, crash reconstruction, and has been a forensic interviewer of children for the Children’s Advocacy Center.  He also served as Cadre at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy for the 32nd, 33rd, 34th, 37th, and 38th Basic Law Enforcement Training Programs.

Prior to his law enforcement career, Ken was previously employed by Franklin Memorial Hospital and is a veteran of the US Army and retired from the Maine Army National Guard in 2007.  He is a veteran of Operations Desert Storm (1990-1991) and Iraqi Freedom (2003-2004) and Hurricane Katrina relief efforts in Louisiana (2005).  Ken lives in Farmington with his wife and two daughters.
