Sergeant Arthur Vanderhoff
Sergeant arthur vanderhoff 1951 - 1974
Arthur started out as a constable serving the Village Corporation Police in 1951. In 1953 his salary was increased, and he was given help in collecting and counting meter money. When the Farmington Police Department was formed in 1967, he became an officer, granted three weeks’ vacation instead of two weeks due to his years of service. In 1971, Arthur was promoted to Sergeant. During his career he worked with five judges, five county attorneys, four town managers and four sheriffs. He served 23 years before retiring in 1974. There were about 110 guests at his retirement party where he was presented his retirement plaque.
