Sergeant Peter Barton

Peter began his career with Farmington Police Department in September 1982. He started on foot patrol and worked his way up to cruiser patrol. By 1992 he was made a Corporal and in 1996 he achieved the rank of Sergeant. Peter started the departments bicycle patrol in 1999 as an offshoot of the foot patrol. Peter had additional training to include photography in 1990 and became the regional recertifier for the intoxilyzer. He worked at procuring grants for the department as well as working as an evening supervisor. Peter is the third longest serving employee of the Farmington Police Department with 29 years served. Peter’s awards through the Farmington Police Department include employee of the quarter for summer 2009 and educational award (AA).
